One of Connerly’s most important supporters has been Johnny Zamrzla, president and chief executive officer of the Western Pacific Roofing Corporation and a former president of the Chicago-based National Roofing Contractors Association. Zamrzla serves as Connerly’s American Civil Rights Institute (ACRI) board chair. He has also been identified by Connerly as one of “the directors of the American Civil Rights Coalition.” National Review Online, January 30, 2007.

Connerly has also lobbied for the Roofing Contractors Association of California (RCAC), of which Zamrzla was a three term president and is a current board member. State records show that Connerly lobbied for RCAC from at least 1999-2006. On RCAC’s website Ward Connerly is listed as executive director, his wife Ilene as associate executive director, and their son Marc Connerly as senior consultant at RCAC handling communications, advertising, and safety questions.

Connerly also manages the Roofing Contractors Association of Southern California (RCASC), of which Zamrzla was also a three-term president and current member of the board of governors. RCASC has the same address as Connerly & Associates, which it describes in its newsletter [PDF] as “our association staff.”
